2nd person charged in Waltham shooting that killed woman, 24
A second person has been charged for a fatal shooting that took the life of a 24-year-old Waltham woman last month.
Kaire Holman, 31, of Quincy, is scheduled to be charged with the murder of Zharia Wilcox-Ellis, 24, of Waltham, this afternoon in Waltham District Court.
Holman is the second person charged in the Aug. 2 shooting of Wilcox-Ellis. Just three days after the shooting, Wilcox-Ellis’ partner, Melanie Williams, 30, of Waltham, was charged with assault and battery on a household or family member in an alleged assault that preceded her shooting death.
Waltham Police at 11:30 that night responded to a report of a violent ruckus among a large group of people outside a Second Avenue apartment building where Williams lived and where Wilcox-Ellis often visited. They found Wilcox-Ellis’ body lying in the parking lot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they found “multiple pieces of ballistics evidence” including two bullets in the Wilcox-Ellis’ body. They say the recovered evidence matched the .380 gun registered to Holman.
This is a developing story.
