Red Sox lineups: Orioles phenom Jackson Holliday to make MLB debut

The Baltimore Orioles already boast one of the most talented rosters in baseball, featuring numerous former top prospects and the last two American League Rookies of the Year in catcher Adley Rutschman and shortstop Gunnar Henderson.

Now Baltimore’s set to welcome it’s latest young superstar.

Jackson Holliday, the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball, will make his MLB debut tonight at Fenway Park. Holliday will bat ninth and start at second base for the Orioles, who are currently third in the AL East and a half-game behind the Red Sox in the standings.

Boston will counter with a righty-heavy lineup to counter Orioles left-hander Cole Irvin, including Tyler O’Neill in right field, Romy Gonzalez at shortstop, Pablo Reyes at second base and Connor Wong at catcher. Rafael Devers and Triston Casas will bat third and fourth, respectively, and Masataka Yoshida will bat seventh thanks in part to his batting .188 over the past week.

Kutter Crawford will take the mound for the Red Sox in place of the injured Nick Pivetta, who was originally slated to start tonight’s game. Through two starts Crawford has posted a pristine 0.84 ERA over 10.2 innings.
