Kowloon expanding to The Brook casino in New Hampshire: ‘An iconic restaurant’

Call it a perfect marriage.

The legendary Chinese restaurant, Kowloon, on Route 1 in Saugus, is expanding to the Granite State, at The Brook casino and entertainment venue in Seabrook where  they’re dubbing ait a “one-of-a-kind Asian dining concept and nightlife experience.”

“Everyone who has grown up in this part of New England has their Kowloon memories, it’s an iconic restaurant,” The Brook CEO Andre Carrier said in a statement this week. “It is an absolute privilege to be part of this project that will add a new chapter to the Kowloon legacy and create a place where many more wonderful memories will be made.”

The Kowloon is slated to open up shop inside the sprawling 90,000-square-foot casino this summer, located on 75 acres along the Seacoast and just a mile north of the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border.

Officials overseeing the partnership say food and cocktails that are Kowloon favorites in Saugus will be showcased at the new eatery. They did not reveal what selections would appear on the menu.

The Brook said the new dining spot will create its own culinary identity inside a space featuring multiple dining rooms, private event rooms, two bars, and a “swanky” lounge.

Casino guests have already taken in some of Kowloon’s “most renowned menu items” this year. The Brook offered two sold-out Kowloon pop-up events during its Chinese New Year celebrations this year, culminating in the long-term collaboration which officials say had been in the works for more than two years.

“We’re so grateful for the love and support long-term patrons have shown us for decades,” the Kowloon said in a statement. “In a way, this new restaurant and nightlife concept is both a thank you to and a new offering just for them.”

The Brook is slated to offer guests sneak peeks into the future eatery’s amenities, decor, and menu before its grand opening, at which time the name of the establishment will be revealed.

The development has caught the eyes of a conservative financial watchdog and New Hampshire political candidates given how the Granite State has no general sales tax.

“Even the @KowloonSaugus is heading to New Hampshire! Tax free New Hampshire vs Taxachusetts, tax free New Hampshire wins every time,” Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance said in an X post Tuesday night.

Chuck Morse, a New Hampshire gubernatorial candidate and former president of the state Senate, added: “More and more businesses are choosing the Granite State, and it’s no stroke of luck or mere accident! It’s because we’ve elected conservative leaders that have driven results.”

The Wang family, the owners of the Kowloon, plans on downsizing the eatery’s presence in Saugus, going from 1,200 seats to about 350. The property will feature two new residential buildings, each with a restaurant space on the first floor.

“Great news. Welcome to New Hampshire @KowloonSaugus,” Lily Tang Williams, a candidate for the state’s second congressional district, posted on X.
