Trump team claims weekend fundraiser doubled Biden’s recent record breaking event
Former President Donald Trump’s campaign claims it broke a fundraising record apparently set by President Joe Biden’s team just two weeks ago.
According to Trump’s campaign, an event he held this weekend in Florida pulled in over $50 million. That’s almost twice the raise Biden saw from an event at Radio City Music hall in New York that he held alongside former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
“This has been some incredible evening before it even starts because people — they wanted to contribute to a cause of making America great again, and that’s what’s happened,” Trump said on his way into the event alongside former First Lady Melania Trump.
“Biggest night in Fund Raising of ALL TIME!!! Will double up the Biden number of last week at Radio City. People are desperate for change. They want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! DJT,” the 45th President wrote on his Truth Social media platform, capitalization his.
The massive campaign haul came following a major-donor “Inaugural Leadership Dinner” event Trump held Saturday at the Palm Beach home of billionaire investor John Paulson. The dinner included about 100 invited guests who paid at least $250,000 to attend, or $814,600 for those looking for the privilege of dining alongside the former commander-in-chief.
Both donation amounts came with the chance to snap a picture with Trump and a coffee table book featuring pictures from his time in White House.
“It’s clearer than ever that we have the message, the operation, and the money to propel President Trump to victory on November 5,” senior Trump campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in a joint statement.
Co-chairs of the fundraiser include former Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler, Trump’s former Small Business Administration boss and former World Wrestling Entertainment executive Linda McMahon, casino mogul Steve Wynn, Las Vegas-based businessman Robert Bigelow, and New York supermarket billionaire John Catsimatidis.
According to the event’s invitation, donations went toward the Trump 47 Committee, a joint fundraising agreement between the Republican National Committee, state Republican parties, and Trump’s Save America super PAC, which he uses to pay his legal fees.
Trump desperately needed the money his team claims they made this weekend.
The Republican Party and the former president announced last week that they raised more than $65.6 million in March and closed out the month with $93.1 million cash on hand. Biden and the Democrats announced last week they hauled in more than $90 million in March and have $192 million on hand.
