Taiwan March 2024: MG HS on podium for the first time

The MG HS ranks at a record #3 in March.

41,313 new cars hit Taiwanese roads in March, a -6.4% year-on-year drop. The Q1 2023 volume is up 5.7% to 112,401. Toyota (-6.7%) matches the market to easily remain in the brands top spot with 23.8% share and 26.4% so far this year. Honda (-12.4%) struggles but rallies back up three spots on February to rank at #2 both for the month and year-to-date. Lexus (-21.5%) is down one rank on last month to #4 while MG (+200.1%) triples its sales year-on-year to #4 overall. Tesla (-15.6%) reappears in the Top 10 at #5 but skids year-on-year. Hyundai (+16.6%) and CMC (+0.1%) also shine.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-31.7%) remains on top despite a searing loss and holds 5.5% of the market vs. 6.4% over Q1. The Toyota Town Ace (+20.5%) follows in strong fashion while the MG HS (+131.2%) breaks into the podium for the first time at #3. The Toyota RAV4 (+54.8%) and the new Toyota Yaris Cross round out the Top 5. All remaining Top 10 models drop by double-digits bar the Nissan X-Trail (+480.1%) boosted by the new generation. The Hyundai Tucson (+206.7%) and Volvo XC40 (+103.8%) also impress below.
