Morocco Full Year 2023: Renault Express first non-Dacia to lead in over 10 years

The Moroccan new light vehicle market is stable in 2023 at 161,504 units (+0.1%). This includes 145,292 passenger cars (+1.5%) and 16,212 light commercials (-11%). In the passenger cars brands ranking, Dacia (-13%) is in difficulty and sees its market share plunge from 27.2% last year to 23.3%. Renault (+4.7%) for its part lifts its share slightly from 15% to 15.5%. Hyundai (+5.2%) does the same at 9.6%. Peugeot (+5.2%) stays in 4th place above Volkswagen (+51.5%) up three spots to #5. As a result Opel (+8.1%) and Citroen (-3.4% both drop one rank to #6 and #7 respectively. Skoda (+41.8%), Volvo (+24.3%) and BMW (+23.1%) are in great shape below.
Model-wise, counting passenger cars and light commercials, the Renault Express (+22.7%) topples the Dacia Logan (-25.2%) to become the best-selling vehicle in Morocco for the year. This is the first time since 2012 (Renault Kangoo) that it is not a Dacia atop the annual charts. The Dacia Sandero (-4.9%) stays in 2nd place above the Logan. The Peugeot 208 (+27.4%) and Renault Clio (+7.1%) both leapfrog past the Dacia Duster (-18%) down two ranks to #6. Meanwhile the Opel Corsa (+54%), Hyundai Tucson (+13%), Dacia Lodgy (+11.8%) and Hyundai Accent (+2.6%) all beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10.
