Report: Ex-Red Sox INF Christian Arroyo signs with Brewers

Former Red Sox infielder Christian Arroyo reportedly has a new home.

According to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy and others, Arroyo has agreed to sign with the Milwaukee Brewers. FanSided’s Robert Murray reports the deal is a minor league contract worth $1.5 million in base salary if he makes the big league team, plus another $500,000 in incentives.

Arroyo joins the Brewers after four seasons with the Red Sox, during which time he flashed impressive potential but frequently battled injury. The 28-year-old Arroyo primarily played second base in Boston, and his best season with the Red Sox came in 2022, when he batted .286 over a career-high 87 games.

This past season Arroyo was once again slated to serve as Boston’s starting second baseman but went on the injured list in May with a right hamstring strain and was ineffective upon his return. He wound up batting .241 with a .638 OPS in 66 games, and in August he was designated for assignment and outrighted to Triple-A, effectively ending his run with the big league club.
