On heels of $1B investment in new Blatnik Bridge, Biden to visit Superior, Wis., on Thursday

President Joe Biden is planning his second recent trip to Superior, Wis., on Thursday.

According to the White House, the president plans to discuss his administration’s advocacy for infrastructure and other public and private investments to further economic development nationwide.

Indeed, on Monday the U.S. Department of Transportation announced that it was earmarking more than $1 billion in federal funding to replace the aging Blatnik Bridge that connects Superior to Duluth, Minn.

A location for Biden’s visit hasn’t been announced.

Biden last visited Superior in March 2022 at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. During that trip, he inspected the 60-year-old Blatnik Bridge, which carries more than 33,000 vehicles a day.

The total cost for rebuilding the bridge is estimated to be $1.8 billion, according to the statement. Wisconsin and Minnesota each committed $400 million toward the project last year.
