Gold Line construction to bring overnight closing of I-94 this weekend
As part of Metro Transit’s Gold Line bus rapid transit construction, Interstate 94 on St. Paul’s East Side will be closed overnight on Saturday and Sunday.
Both directions of the freeway will be closed as utility crews perform work from midnight to 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, and Sunday, Jan. 28. Westbound lanes will be closed between Interstates 494/694 and Interstate 35E. Eastbound lanes will be closed between U.S. 61/U.S. 10 and I-494/694.
The official detour will use I-35E and I-694. During the closings, crews will work on utilities under I-94 near White Bear Avenue. The work is subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Anyone with questions, comments or concerns can call the Gold Line construction hotline at 651-602-1919 or email goldline@metrotransit.org. More information is available at metrotransit.org/gold-line-construction.
The Gold Line, connecting Woodbury and downtown St. Paul, is expected to begin service in 2025.
