Vikings part ways with head athletic trainer Uriah Myrie

In a surprising move, the Vikings announced Friday that they have parted ways with head athletic trainer Uriah Myrie. It is unclear how the Vikings plan to fill the position.

“We appreciate Uriah’s commitment and contributions to the organization and to Vikings players over the past two years,” the Vikings said in a statement. “We wish him personal and professional success in the future.”

Hired in 2022, Myrie replaced longtime head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman. In his time with the organization, Myrie worked directly with Tyler Williams, who will continue to serve as the vice president of player health and performance.

Though the Vikings suffered a number of significant injuries — including quarterback Kirk Cousins (Achilles), running back Cam Akers (Achilles), tight end T.J. Hockenson (ACL and MCL), pass rusher Marcus Davenport (ankle) and linebacker Jordan Hicks (compartment syndrome), among others — a source said the decision to part ways with Myrie was not in any way connected.
