Bill Belichick’s famous quotes and slogans: From ‘No days off!’ to ‘We’re on to Cincinnati’ to ‘Ignore the noise’

Bill Belichick has had his fair share of memorable quotes and sayings from his 24 years in front of Patriots reporters, while speaking to players, and during numerous championship celebrations.

We’ve all heard the greatest coach of all time saying, “Do your job,” over and over on the sidelines — a phrase and mantra that can be seen on hoodies all across New England.

Beyond “Do your job,” here are some of Belichick’s most famous quotes and slogans:

“No days off!”

Following the Patriots’ historic comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51, Belichick at the victory rally started chanting “No days off!” The motto referred to the team’s hard work that helped them fight back from down 28-3 and win the title. Many of the people attending the parade likely took the day off for the midweek parade.

“We’re on to Cincinnati”

After the Patriots got crushed by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football in 2014, Belichick knew it was time to turn the page and look ahead to the next game. When reporters peppered him with questions, Belichick repeated the now-viral phrase, “We’re on to Cincinnati.” The next week, the Pats destroyed the Bengals, and later that season the Pats won Super Bowl 49.

“Mona Lisa Vito”

“I’m not a scientist. I’m not an expert in footballs. I’m not an expert in football measurements… I would not say that I’m the Mona Lisa Vito of the football world as she was in the car expertise area.”

Belichick out of nowhere threw out a movie reference during a Deflategate press conference ahead of Super Bowl 49. He mentioned the character played by actress Marisa Tomei in “My Cousin Vinny.”

“Ignore the noise”

It was a mantra that helped the Pats not get distracted by controversies and “-gates” throughout their unprecedented run.

After an ESPN report came out about the tension at One Patriot Place following the Pats trading Jimmy Garoppolo, Rob Gronkowski talked about the “ignore the noise” motto.

“The reputation that coach tries to get us to have is just ignore the noise — ignore the noise from the outside, and I feel like that’s what myself and a lot of other players have been doing,” Gronk said.

“You just gotta ignore the noise and just focus on what we’ve been doing all year and that’s preparing hard, studying our opponent, getting ready, mentally and physically for the big game, so what’s going on on the outside, as a team, as an organization, just gotta keep grinding, keep going, keep doing our job.”
