Chicago Bears middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds paid $1.41 million in June for a five-bedroom, 6,101-square-foot home in Northbrook.

A Virginia native and standout on the gridiron at Virginia Tech for three years, Edmunds, 25, signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Bears in March. Edmunds has been a key part of some of the Bears’ late-season wins this season.

Built in 2008, Edmunds’ new house in Northbrook has 4-1/2 bathrooms, 15-foot ceilings, a two-story foyer, white oak floors, a glass staircase, and a recently remodeled kitchen with floor-to-ceiling Italian cabinetry, white quartz countertops, a white quartz backsplash, stainless steel appliances from Wolf and Sub-Zero, and a waterfall island with seating. Other features include a three-car garage and a basement with 10-foot ceilings, a bar and a built-in Sub-Zero wine refrigerator.

Outside on the 0.28-acre property is a large deck that was installed in 2022, overlooking the backyard.

The contemporary-style house had been listed in March for just under $1.5 million, and it went under contract to sell less than two months later.

Paul Gorney of eXp Realty, who represented Edmunds in the purchase, could not be reached for comment.

Edmunds’ new house had a $15,846 property tax bill in the 2022 tax year.
