Gophers football: Oklahoma transfer tailback Marcus Major commits to the U

The Gophers football program added more depth to its backfield on Sunday.

Former Oklahoma running back Marcus Major committed to Minnesota.

“Let’s do it!” #Gophers,” Major posted on X.

Major, who was a four-star recruit from Millwood High School in Oklahoma City, rushed for 833 total yards on 194 carries and eight touchdowns across five seasons for the Sooners. Listed at 6-feet and 219 pounds, his best season came in 2023, rushing 78 times for 308 yards (3.9 per carry) and one TD across seven games.

With a redshirt freshman season in 2019 and the COVID-19 year in 2020, Major has one season of eligibility left for the U.

Minnesota also added Ohio tailback Seih Bangura via the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 19 and now have six additions total, including Penn State receiver Cristian Driver on Sunday.
