Gophers football: Cristian Driver, son of ex-Packers WR Donald Driver, commits to the U

The Gophers football program added a transfer receiver with a well-known surname on Sunday.

Former Penn State wideout Cristian Driver — the son of former Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver — pledged to Minnesota.

“1000% committed!! #gopher,” Driver wrote on X. “ROW THEM DAMN BOATS.”

Driver, who was a four-star recruit coming out of Liberty Christian High School in Argyle, Texas, played sparingly in his two seasons for the Nittany Lions.

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound target had one catch for eight yards and two tackles on special teams across six games last season. He played four games as a true freshman in 2022 and has two years of eligibility remaining at Minnesota.

“RowTheBoat @GopherFootball,” posted Donald Driver, who came out of Alcorn State to make three Pro Bowls in a 14-year NFL career.

Minnesota has now added five new players via the NCAA transfer portal since early December.
