BOYS BASKETBALL

Xaverian ended the 2023 schedule with a bang.

JJ Honekamp scored 22 points, while Lorenzo Carrara added 21 as the Hawks went on the road and knocked off Div. 1 state finalist Needham 70-58. Roman Perdoni added 13 for Xaverian, who improved to 3-0 on the season.

Dylan Perrault (14 points), Ryan Baker (13 points), Isaiah Bean Brittian (11 points) and seven other players scored for Whitman-Hanson (3-2) in a 71-50 nonleague win over Marathon (Florida). … Sam Zack (20 points) and Josh Lake (16 points) set the tone for Martha’s Vineyard (4-2) during a 66-55 victory over Dover-Sherborn. … Kyle Kemembin (20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five steals) and Josh Anderson (10 points, 12 rebounds) recorded double-doubles, and Pierre Veras collected 23 points, five rebounds and four steals as Lynn English (4-2) rolled to a 101-44 win over KIPP. … Ryan Cotter put up 21 points, and Ryan Kelley chipped in with 14 points as Foxboro (1-4) bested Barnstable 60-43. … Raphel Laurent (23 points, five steals) and Anthony Forte (14 points, five steals) led the way for Peabody (5-1) in a 67-40 win over Triton. … Jack Bunnell tallied 19 points for Stoneham (1-4) in a 60-53 victory over Hamilton-Wenham.

In the John Adams Holiday Tournament, Nick Charles dropped 22 points, and Chris Soillis put in 17 points as Concord-Carlisle (2-4) topped North Quincy 67-42. … Later on in the championship, Theo More (19 points) was named Most Valuable Player as Braintree (3-2) captured the title with a 63-50 win over rival Weymouth.

Damien Jackman (14 points, five steals), Danny Luna (18 points, six assists), Grayson McDonald (13 points) and Alex Ayim (10 points, 10 rebounds) reached double figures in scoring for Greater Lowell (1-4) during a 71-58 win over Bristol-Plymouth at the Worcester Tech Holiday Tournament.

JJ Martinez collected 17 points and 10 rebounds and was named MVP, while Devell Pamplin and Kyle Rush scored 15 points apiece as St. Mary’s (Lynn) (5-1) edged Lynn Tech 59-57 in the Boverini Tournament championship.

Kingston Maxwell paced all scorers with 19 points, while Jake McSharry (16 points, eight rebounds) and Connor Pease (14 points, 16 rebounds) also provided sparks for Abington (3-3) during a 64-50 victory over Quincy at the Norwell Holiday Invitational.

In the consolation game of the Muscato Tournament, Jake Willard buried a halfcourt heave at the buzzer, delivering Oliver Ames a stunning 54-53 victory over Cardinal Spellman. It was also the first victory of Tigers coach Eric MacKinnon’s career.

In the championship game of the Coach Hutch Tournament, Leo Andrade scored 16 points and secured MVP honors, while Nate Reynolds (18 points) and Mike Dankert (14 points) were named All-Stars for Bourne (5-0) in a 68-50 win over Bellingham.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Molly Gleason racked up 34 points, and Chloe Egan registered 21 points for Barnstable (4-2) in an 81-58 nonleague win over Plymouth North. … Boosted by Shannon Patrick’s double-double (18 points, 13 rebounds) and 13 points from Sophia Shumilova, Acton-Boxboro (5-1) downed Everett 57-37. … Paige Meda scattered 23 points, and McKinley Wenzel finished with 11 points as Bourne (4-0) won 60-24 against Martha’s Vineyard. … Aivry Devoy (21 points) and Addie Woodgate (12 points) stepped up offensively as Archbishop Williams (3-2) secured a 52-48 victory over Cohasset.

Cecilia Kay won tournament MVP with 22 points and 17 rebounds, and Celia Neilson and Isabella Lopez-Marin tallied 11 points apiece for Bishop Fenwick (5-1) in a 56-45 victory over Walpole at the Rivard Tournament championship. … Izzy Kittredge scored 27 points, and Tess Baacke added 15 points as Medfield (4-1) defeated Oliver Ames in the consolation game, 76-57.

Bella Owumi earned MVP honors with 20 points and 17 rebounds, and AJ Hyacinthe and Reese Matela had 12 points each as St. Mary’s (Lynn) (8-0) routed Lynn Tech 80-18 in the Boverini Tournament championship.

In the Sandwich Holiday Classic, junior Maddie Lawrence (17 points, 11 rebounds, seven blocks) hit a reverse shot off a scrap ball during the closing seconds, as Sandwich (6-0) defeated Duxbury in the title game 45-44.

Lauren Caley was named MVP for Beverly (4-2) at the North Reading Holiday Tournament with three points and nine rebounds, while Julianna Stevenson made the all-tournament team with 10 points, three steals and three assists as the Panthers beat Melrose 38-28 in the championship game. … Ariana Demetri (16 points) and Allie Lanciani (13 points) handled the bulk of the scoring for North Reading (3-3) during a 61-22 win over Danvers in the consolation game.

Nora Simpson finished with 12 points and four steals for Arlington Catholic (3-1) in a 30-29 win over Reading at the Reading Holiday Tournament.

In the consolation game at the Mansfield Holiday Tournament, Lilly Blow had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Tessa Murphy (10 points, eight rebounds, five assists) was named in the tournament All-Star team as Fontbonne (4-1) edged East Bridgewater 52-50 in overtime.

Maddie Oliver recorded 21 points, while Alex Cassidy had eight points as Norwell (3-1) topped Scituate 54-25 and won the Rockland Holiday Tournament.

Liam Hansen scored his first four varsity goals in a breakout performance, helping fuel Reading (4-0) to a 6-1 Middlesex League win over Winchester.

Gavin Marengi posted 35 saves for Triton (3-3) in a 3-0 shutout win over Chelmsford, claiming the Lions Cup MVP trophy by fueling the championship win.
