St. Paul police: Man fatally shot at Hamline-Midway home ID’d as 35-year-old

Police have identified a man fatally shot in St. Paul as a 35-year-old.

Drew Johnson, of St. Paul, died at Regions Hospital early Monday.

Police said a woman called 911 at about 1:45 a.m. and reported there was an intruder — a man who she named — at the home in the 1300 block of Englewood Avenue in the Hamline-Midway area. A man then got on the phone and said he had fired multiple shots at the intruder, who was down in the front porch of the home.

A second 911 call came in from a man who said he was dying.

Officers found Johnson on the home’s front porch and paramedics took him to Regions Hospital, where he later died.

A 34-year-old woman and 29-year-old man at the home were taken to police headquarters for interviews. Police said they declined to be interviewed, and were booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of murder.

Police said Tuesday their investigation is ongoing.
