Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy named to Four Nations rosters
Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy have never been opponents. The Bruins captain and alternate captain will soon find out what that’s like.
Marchand (Canada) and McAvoy (U.S.) were in the first groupings named to their respective teams for the Four Nations Face-Off that will be played next February in Boston and Montreal.
The league announced the first six players chosen from the four competing nations. The other American players will be Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox, Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel and Matthew Tkachuk. The Canadians, helmed by B’s GM Don Sweeney, also chose Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and Brayden Point.
Sweden and Finland will be the other participants in the tournament. The championship game will be played at the Garden on February.
The left wing Marchand and right defenseman McAvoy, both very physical players, could see a lot of each other in this tourney. That should be interesting.
