Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey, RB Keaton Mitchell added to injury report Thursday; several Browns return to practice
Once the NFL’s most-injured team earlier this season, the Ravens (7-2) enter Week 10 and Sunday’s crucial home game against the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns relatively healthy. But a few notable names were added to Thursday’s injury report.
Cornerback Marlon Humphrey (hamstring), running back Keaton Mitchell (hamstring) and wide receiver Rashod Bateman (back) were all limited on a warm, rainy day in Owings Mills.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Michael Pierce (illness) did not practice for a second straight day, though he showed up to watch wearing a hoodie and shorts. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis (illness) also did not practice.
Mitchell is coming off a breakout performance in which he had 138 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in Sunday’s blowout win over the Seattle Seahawks. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Thursday that the undrafted rookie out of East Carolina has earned more playing time after he missed the early part of the season with a shoulder injury suffered in the preseason.
After missing the first four games of the season following foot surgery, Humphrey has returned to his Pro Bowl form as one of the leaders of the NFL’s best defense, while Pierce has been one of the league’s best interior defenders. Bateman has 17 catches for 180 yards this season and received a season-high five targets in Sunday’s win.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was back on the practice field and was a full participant after getting a rest day Wednesday and also being listed with a knee injury. Right tackle Morgan Moses (shoulder) and safety Marcus Williams (hamstring) were listed on the injury report as well, though both were full participants for a second straight day.
For the Browns (5-3), wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (concussion) and rookie Dawand Jones (knee/shoulder), who is expected to move from right to left tackle for injured starter Jedrick Wills Jr., did not participate for a second day in a row. Wide receiver David Bell (knee) also did not practice.
Several other players returned and were limited after not practicing Wednesday, including wide receiver Amari Cooper (rest/ankle), cornerback Greg Newsome (groin), tight end David Njoku (knee) and running back Pierre Strong (hamstring).
Quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder), offensive lineman Nick Harris (toe) and safety Grant Delpit (shoulder) fully practiced for the second straight day, while defensive ends Alex Wright (knee) and Ogbo Okoronkwo (groin) were again limited.
