Chicago White Sox tab Paul Janish — a former big-league infielder — as their new director of player development
Former big-league infielder Paul Janish has been named the director of player development for the Chicago White Sox.
Janish, 41, played parts of nine seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2008-11), Atlanta Braves (2012-13) and Baltimore Orioles (2015-17), appearing in 473 career games.
He spent the past two seasons as associate head coach for Rice’s baseball team after originally joining the the Owls as an assistant coach in August 2017.
Janish takes over the role previously held by Sox general manager Chris Getz.
“Paul brings a wealth of experience to our organization,” Getz said in a statement. “He has lived every step of the development ladder, from being a national champion player at Rice, to being drafted, reaching the majors and then coaching successfully at a high-level program like Rice.”
