Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle on Greater East Side, St. Paul police say
Police are investigating after a minivan driver fatally struck a pedestrian in St. Paul on Friday night.
The driver was headed west on Mechanic Avenue and turned south onto Van Dyke Street on the Greater East Side when he struck a man who was walking on Van Dyke Street near the intersection, according to police. Officers were called about 6:30 p.m.
St. Paul fire medics pronounced the pedestrian dead.
The adult driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved, and the driver was not arrested, police said.
