2027 Ford Bronco Gets Raptor V6 Power, New Filson and RTR Trims, and Interior Upgrades
Ford is giving the 2027 Bronco some serious attention, and the biggest news should make plenty of off-road enthusiasts happy. After years of keeping its powerful twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 exclusive to the Bronco Raptor, Ford is finally making that engine available across several additional trims. That’s a pretty big deal for buyers who have wanted more performance without stepping all the way up to the expensive Raptor. Along with the expanded engine availability, the 2027 Bronco lineup welcomes two distinctive new models, the Filson and RTR, while introducing several interior improvements and new color options.
The headline attraction is undoubtedly that 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, which will now be available on the Bronco Outer Banks, Badlands, and Heritage models, while coming standard in the new Filson edition. In these applications, the engine delivers a healthy 380 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. For comparison, the Bronco Raptor squeezes 418 horsepower from its version of the engine while producing an identical 440 lb-ft of torque. That means buyers can now enjoy Raptor-matching torque without paying for the flagship model’s more elaborate suspension setup and specialized hardware. It’s also a substantial improvement over the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, giving the Bronco considerably more muscle for highway passing and tackling challenging terrain.
One of the more interesting additions for 2027 is the new Bronco Filson, which brings a premium, outdoor-inspired personality to Ford’s popular SUV. Drawing inspiration from the heritage outdoor apparel brand, the Filson edition combines rugged styling with distinctive colors and an upscale approach to adventure. Buyers will be able to choose exclusive exterior colors such as Field Green and Iron Sands Metallic, both of which seem particularly fitting for a vehicle designed to spend time away from paved roads. More importantly, the 380-horsepower EcoBoost V6 comes standard, giving this special Bronco plenty of performance to back up its outdoorsy appearance. Ford expects the Filson to begin arriving at dealerships in early 2027.
Then there’s the 2027 Bronco RTR, which takes a noticeably different approach. Developed with input from RTR Vehicles, the company associated with professional drifter and off-road racer Vaughn Gittin Jr., this version puts more emphasis on fast-paced off-road driving. Rather than chasing the same formula as the rock-crawling-focused Badlands, the RTR features suspension tuning aimed at handling rough terrain at higher speeds. It also brings a more aggressive appearance, distinctive Hyper Lime accents, and available upgrades such as the Sasquatch Package with 35-inch tires and FOX internal bypass shocks. Power comes from the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which benefits from specialized anti-lag turbo programming for improved response. With a starting price of $50,495 before destination charges, the Bronco RTR should appeal to enthusiasts who want a desert-inspired off-roader without stretching their budgets into Bronco Raptor territory.
Ford hasn’t forgotten about the inside of the Bronco, either. Several trims receive meaningful updates to their seating materials and available comfort features for 2027. Outer Banks models equipped with the Lux Package now feature premium vinyl upholstery in place of standard leather seating, while the Badlands gets upgraded Marine Grade Vinyl designed to better withstand the dirt, mud, and occasional mess that come with off-road adventures. Ford is also introducing its first power-adjustable Marine Grade Vinyl seat in the Bronco, bringing added convenience to a material already appreciated for its durability and easy maintenance. Even the more affordable Big Bend benefits from the changes, with a heated steering wheel now available through the Mid Package. Meanwhile, Neptune Blue joins the exterior color palette, replacing Velocity Blue across the lineup.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the 2027 Ford Bronco updates is that buyers no longer have to spring for the Raptor to enjoy one of the lineup’s most desirable engines. The availability of a 380-horsepower V6 in models like the Badlands and Heritage could create some particularly appealing combinations, especially for drivers who prefer a more traditional Bronco appearance but still want substantial power under the hood. Add in the new Filson and RTR variants, improved cabin materials, and additional comfort features, and Ford has given the Bronco plenty of reasons to remain near the top of an off-road SUV shopping list. Full pricing for the updated lineup has yet to be announced, but Ford is clearly making the Bronco family more versatile for 2027, and that’s good news for enthusiasts who want more choices without giving up the adventurous character that makes this SUV special.
