Israel May 2026: Chinese hold 46.4% of the market, Chery back to #1

Chery holds 12.5% of the Israeli market in May.

Thanks to our local partner cartube.co.il we can share with you today May results by brand for the Israeli market. Models data is a quarterly occurrence. This month sales are up 13.4% year-on-year to 29,456, tilting the year-to-date tally into positive territory at +0.9% to 143,983. Chery (+38.4%) overtakes Omoda Jaecoo (+55.4%) to lodge its first win since last December and the 5th overall (add July, August and September 2025). Kia (+29.1%) is also in great shape at #3, up three spots on April. In contrast Toyota (-22.9%) and Hyundai (-14%) suffer but still manage to round out the Top 5. The rest of the Top 10 models all post fantastic gains, with BYD (+174%) the most dynamic followed by Geely (+76.3%), Citroen (+70.1%), Skoda (+52.2%) and MG (+49.2%). All in all, Chinese carmakers account for 46.4% of the May market vs. 34.7% a year ago thanks to sales up 51.9%.
