A man who’d been on the lamb in Mexico for months after being accused of a double murder in Brockton pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.

Davinci Leonard, 23, faces two counts of murder, one count each of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and carrying ammunition without an FID card, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. After entering his plea, Leonard was held without bail.

The defendant is accused of killing 15-year-old Tymari Albertson and 18-year-old Cevannah Alvarez in March of last year outside of a Chipotle on Westgate Dr.

Albertson, who was shot in the face and chest, was pronounced dead on the scene. Alvarez had a gunshot wound to the chest and succumbed to her injuries after being transported to the hospital.

“Leonard fled the scene, and since that day authorities were searching for him and gathering information about his whereabouts,” Cruz said in a statement.

US Marshals arrested Leonard on Feb. 12 after Cruz’s office put out a renewed request for information on his whereabouts.

Leonard is expected back in court on May 13th.

David Mosley-Lott, 32, of Quincy and Jaylen Speed, 25, of Dorchester, also face charges for allegedly helping Leonard flee after the deadly shooting. Both men have been charged with accessory after the fact, while Mosley-Lott also faces an additional count of intimidation of a witness.
