Boston Police Blotter: Guns seized in JP, Dorchester

A 20-year-old man from Jamaica Plain was arrested on several gun charges following a Saturday evening traffic stop.

Widvenson Dorcent was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Dorcent was the passenger of a vehicle police stopped around 7:45 p.m. on Lamartine Street because it did not have a valid inspection sticker or a functioning headlight, according to Boston Police.

After police asked for the driver’s license and registration, they said he appeared nervous and was unable to provide them with either document.

When officers suggested the driver check his glove compartment for the information, the driver initially told them he didn’t have a key to it, BPD said.

The driver did produce a key that he “briefly inserted” into the glove box, BPD said, “but removed it after speaking with the passenger in another language.”

The officers asked the driver to try opening the glove compartment again, and when it was partially opened, they said they saw a firearm inside.

The driver and Dorcent were removed from the vehicle while officers searched the compartment to find a Heckler & Koch USP firearm, with one round in the chamber and nine in the magazine.

Dorcent is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court. Police also issued the driver a citation for his headlight and lack of valid inspection sticker.

Missing teen found

Boston Police arrested a 15-year-old on firearms charges and returned a missing 14-year-old to the custody of his guardians after an investigation Friday in Dorchester.

Around 2:49 p.m., officers were patrolling the area around Pope Hill St. looking for the missing juvenile who was believed to be in possession of a gun when they spotted someone who appeared to match the description of the individual, according to BPD.

Police did not recover a firearm from the 14-year-old but “became concerned about the behavior of another juvenile in the group,” BPD said.

During a frisk of the individual’s backpack, the other juvenile tried to prevent officers from getting control of it, they said.

Once they secured the backpack, police said they found an FL Model D .380 ACP handgun with a destroyed serial number and two live rounds in the magazine.

The 15-year-old was charged as a juvenile with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and defacing a serial number.
