Vehicle stuck on tracks struck by Commuter Rail train

A Commuter Rail train struck a car stuck on the tracks early Wednesday morning in Belmont.

A minivan got stuck at the intersection of the railroad and Brighton Street around 4 a.m. as a commuter rail train was approaching, MBTA Transit Police said.

The driver and passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with “serious but non-life threatening injuries,” according to T police
