Former 7News Boston WHDH meteorologist heading to FOX Weather

Those who have been missing a popular meteorologist on 7News will now a chance to see her on national TV.

Melanie Black — who left 7News Boston WHDH a couple of months ago — began her new role at FOX Weather on Thursday.

Black was named as an on-air host at FOX Weather’s New York City headquarters.

“I’m honored that FOX Weather entrusts me to report the important weather stories to viewers across the country each and every day,” Black said in a statement.

For the past three years, Black served as a weekend morning meteorologist at 7News.

While there, she covered Hurricane Lee’s impact on the region, numerous winter storms and other severe weather events.

“We are very excited to welcome Melanie to our FOX Weather family,” FOX Weather President Sharri Berg said in a statement.

“Her years of reporting experience in different climates across the country will prove to be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our best-in-class weather news service,” Berg added.
