High school roundup/scores: Whitman-Hanson duo sparks dramatic comeback win

Maliah Pierre exploded for 34 points, and Dylan Hurley poured in 20 points (10 in the fourth quarter) as the Whitman-Hanson girls basketball team (8-1) came back from a 19-point deficit to beat North Quincy, 62-55.

Also in the Patriot League, Alissa Marcella scored 15 points as Pembroke hung on to beat Duxbury, 39-38. … Addie Monahan tallied 11 points, while Haley Ray added 10 points as Hanover defeated Marshfield, 47-32.

Muji Vader (14 points) and Lily Roth (13 points) paced Minuteman (6-0) in a 50-26 nonleague win over Notre Dame (Tyngsboro). … Olivia Gaynor scored 17 points and came away with five steals as Peabody topped Lincoln-Sudbury, 48-43. … A third-quarter domination and 14 points apiece from Leticia Castro and Brooke Matthews boosted Lowell Catholic to a 43-31 win over North Middlesex. … Down 18 points at the half, Hamilton-Wenham (4-5) locked down on defense and Margot Bryce Morris poured in a career-high 30 points to rally past Whittier, 53-50. … Senior captain Elle Orlando finished with 23 points, as Notre Dame (Hingham) (6-3) defeated Marblehead in a nail-biter, 43-39.

Senior Kaylee Maier scored 20 points, proving the difference for Dracut (7-2) in a 47-26 Merrimack Valley Conference win over North Andover.

Alana McNamara (17 points) and Jenna Mishou (13 points) led the scorers, and the defense stood firm for Archbishop Williams in a 60-42 Catholic Central League victory over Arlington Catholic.

Boys basketball

Aaron Kibe (12 points, four rebounds, three assists), Jackson Vincent (11 points, four rebounds) and Christian Pastore (10 points, four rebounds, four assists) fueled Billerica in a 63-34 nonleague victory over Minuteman. … Liam Powers (19 points), Jake Heller-Bottari (17 points) and Mitchel Damas (14 points) broke into double figures for Mystic Valley in a 66-54 win over South Shore Voke. … Thad Broughton turned in a double-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, while Dom Domenici scored 10 points as Peabody bested Salem Academy 54-45.

In the Patriot League, Yhan Medina erupted for 33 points, as Quincy (6-3) pulled away in the second half for an 80-57 win over Silver Lake. … Matt Marcella scored 22 points to power Pembroke past Duxbury, 63-36. … Jack Martin buried 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Josh Manchester added 13 points and Seth Hall finished with 10 points as Whitman-Hanson defeated North Quincy 65-58 in overtime. … Logan Volkringer paced the attack with 18 points, as Plymouth South (7-0) remained undefeated with a 49-28 win over crosstown rival Plymouth North.

Josh Reidy put up 21 points to lead Dighton-Rehoboth to a 55-52 South Coast Conference win over Apponequet.

Breighdyn Simmons’ hat trick fueled Taunton (6-2-2) to a 7-0 nonleague win over Apponequet.

Girls hockey

Brooke Moreno scored twice as Dedham (6-2) defeated defending Div. 2 state champion Medfield, 5-2, in Tri-Valley League action.

Addy Harrington netted the winner in overtime for Duxbury (7-3-1), taking a 1-0 nonleague victory over Canton to snap out of a small losing skid.

Sammy Ryan scored and dished an assist to lead four different goal-scorers, pairing with two-assist days from Kenzie Dunnet and Lyla Chapman to power Methuen/Tewksbury over Shawsheen/Bedford/Lowell, 4-1, in MVC/DCL crossover action.
