Police Blotter: Christmas Day shooting suspect arrested
Cambridge Police arrested a suspect who allegedly carried out a shooting on Christmas Day.
Nelson Portillo, 34, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
He was arraigned in Cambridge District Court and is being held until a dangerousness hearing.
Officers had responded to a report of a fight on Howard Street around 3:20 a.m. Dec. 25 and found Portillo and another person suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said that the defendant had fired a weapon at a gathering inside a residence, injuring himself and a victim. Both were treated at a local hospital and released.
An investigation by Cambridge Police detectives, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Middlesex District’s Attorney’s Office lead to Portillo’s arrest.
Billerica man faces larceny, gun charges
A 33-year-old man was arrested in connection with an overnight break-in on Dec. 29 at a Billerica car dealership and the theft of several snowplow blades and mounts.
Police said surveillance video led them to issue a search warrant for the home of Michael Sansevero on Ox Road.
In addition to finding two allegedly stolen plow blades and their mounts, police said they found five guns, ammunition, two large-capacity magazines, bags of fentanyl and prescription drugs, and more than $2,000 in cash.
Police estimated they recovered $35,000 in stolen property.
Sansevero faces larceny over $1,200, larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving over $1,200 in stolen property, and breaking and entering, as well as multiple gun charges, including five counts of possessing a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and two counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device.

He was also charged with possession of a Class A substance and a Class E substance and malicious destruction to property and damage to a motor vehicle.
Sansevero’s arraignment is scheduled for Monday at Lowell District Court.
Incident Summary
BPD responded to 192 incidents in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the department’s incident log. Those included arrests for two robberies, seven aggravated assaults, two commercial burglaries, one residential burglary, one larceny from a vehicle, nine miscellaneous larcenies, and two auto thefts.
