Boston Police Blotter: 9 scooters seized in Hyde Park in latest sweep
The Boston Police Department announced yet another targeted takedown of illegally operated scooters and mopeds in the city.
“The initiative was organized in response to ongoing public safety concerns regarding the use of these vehicles, which have been linked to motor vehicle violations and, in some cases, violent crimes,” the department wrote in a statement.
This time officers seized nine mopeds in Hyde Park and issued a slew of citations and summonses for motor vehicle violations.
The department has been conducting targeted enforcement in different neighborhoods of the city and ask the public’s help to report illegal activity. People can provide anonymous information through the CrimeStoppers tip line by calling 1-800-494-TIPS (8477), by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463), or online at Police.Boston.gov/crimestoppers/.
Incident summary
The BPD reports that its officers responded to 274 incidents in its 24-hour report ending at 10 a.m. Saturday. Those include seven aggravated assaults, one residential burglary, six thefts from vehicles, two stolen cars and 22 instances of miscellaneous larceny.

– Alexant Senait, 62 Thetford Ave., Boston. Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
– Ana Galvez, 141 Laurel Hill Ave., Providence, Rhode Island. Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
– Joseph Brown, 650 Columbus Ave., Boston. Breaking and entering for misdemeanor.
