2026 Red Sox spring training schedule: Key games to add to your calendar
Major League Baseball officially announced 2026 spring training schedules for all 30 clubs on Wednesday, and the highlights on the Red Sox slate include a pair of exhibition games against opponents with strong ties to the organization: Northeastern University and the World Baseball Classic team from Alex Cora’s native Puerto Rico.
Fans will get their first look at the ’26 Red Sox on Feb. 20, when they host the Northeastern Huskies for the annual pre-preseason game. The tradition dates back to 2004, but technically began on April 11, 1977, when the two squared off at Fenway Park.
Team Puerto Rico will come to JetBlue Park to play the Red Sox on March 3. It is one of 28 exhibition games between MLB and WBC teams taking place around the Grapefruit League between March 3-4. The ’26 WBC begins that same week, with the North American section of the bracket playing out in Miami, Houston, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In terms of the 31 games that count toward their preseason record, ‘Sox Spring’ officially begins Feb. 21 with a quick jaunt across town to see Minnesota Twins. The neighboring teams will again vie for the Chairman’s Cup – previously known as the Mayor’s Cup and sometimes referred to as the Governor’s Cup – an annual tradition that dates back to the early years of their respective residences in Fort Myers; the Twins arrived in 1991, the Red Sox in ’93.
The first Red Sox spring training home game is against the reigning American League pennant-winning Toronto Blue Jays on Feb. 22.
Spring training will again feature two prospect-centric contests. The Red Sox will host a Futures Game on Saturday, Mar. 14, and their prospects will make a trip to Sarasota to play Orioles prospects on Mar. 20.
All games are subject to change.
