Patriots sign ex-Falcons veteran starting safety amid injuries
The Patriots added a veteran defender on Wednesday, signing safety Richie Grant to the practice squad.
Grant, a 2021 second-round pick out of UCF, started his career with the Falcons and has also spent time with the 49ers.

Grant played with Patriots safety Jaylinn Hawkins, who’s dealing with a hamstring injury, on the Falcons from 2021 to 2023. He started 33 games in his four-year career in Atlanta.
Rookie Craig Woodson and Kyle Dugger started at safety in last week’s win over the Saints. The Patriots also have Dell Pettus and Brenden Schooler at safety.
They previously had an open spot on their practice squad after cutting tight end Gee Scott Jr. and cornerback Tyron Herring and signing tight end Marshall Lang.
