A 17-year-old girl was arrested after allegedly ramming a car through the east front corner of the State Police Cheshire Barracks while she was drunk Saturday night, according to police.

At about 6:22 p.m. Saturday, two 17-year-old girls, both from Pittsfield, driving southbound on Route 8 in Cheshire veered off the road and slammed into the building, police stated in a Sunday release.

The driver was operating a 2000 Nissan Altima, which managed to make a hole in the buildings exterior and bust bricks and concrete into the kitchen.

Both passengers were taken to Berkshire Medical Center to be evaluated for minor injuries and released.

No troopers were injured in the accident. The barracks have remained operational, though State Police Facilities Section and a contractor performed emergency repairs and more will be required to fix the damage.

The teenage driver, who’s name hasn’t been released, was brought back to the same police barracks she’d crashed into and booked for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor; Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Speeding; and Marked Lanes Violation. She was released on a standard $40 bail fee.

The driver is scheduled to appear in Pittsfield District Court for arraignment on Tuesday.
