Patriots starting LG Cole Strange ruled out after being carted off with knee injury
FOXBORO — Patriots left guard Cole Strange was carted off of the field with a knee injury midway through the second quarter of the team’s Week 15 game against the Chiefs.
Strange was quickly ruled out.
Strange appeared to get his foot caught in the turf while getting pushed back by Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones while pass blocking. Strange’s left knee bent back the wrong way, and he remained down on the turf before the cart came out for him.
Patriots teammates and Chiefs players kneeled on the field to pray while Strange remained down. Head coach Bill Belichick was among those who came onto the field to check on him.
Rookie Atonio Mafi replaced Strange at left guard.
Strange was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Chattanooga. He missed time over the summer and during the season with knee injuries.
