Red Sox announce Winter Weekend attendees
Fans planning on attending Red Sox Winter Weekend in Springfield next month can expect to see most of the club’s up-and-coming young stars.
The Red Sox announced their first batch of Winter Weekend attendees over the weekend, and among the 20 confirmed players are shortstop Trevor Story, newly acquired outfielder Tyler O’Neill and young standouts like first baseman Triston Casas, outfielder Jarren Duran and rookies Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu and Enmanuel Valdez.
The full list also includes pitchers Brennan Bernardino, Tanner Houck, Zack Kelly, Chris Martin, Chris Murphy, Nick Pivetta, John Schreiber, Brandon Walter, Garrett Whitlock and Josh Winckowski, catchers Reese McGuire and Connor Wong and outfielder Rob Refsnyder.
At this time notable Red Sox standouts like Rafael Devers, Brayan Bello and Chris Sale have not been confirmed, but additional players are expected to be announced closer to the event.
In addition to the players, Red Sox alumni confirmed for the event include Wade Boggs, Dennis Eckersley, Carlton Fisk, Fred Lynn, Pedro Martinez, Lou Merloni, David Ortiz, Jim Rice and Luis Tiant.
