Chery is up to a record 7th place in Indonesia in May.

The Indonesian wholesales market endures a painful -14.9% YoY drop in May to 60,613 units, leading to a year-to-date volume down -5.4% to 316,981. Retail sales are off -15% to 61,339 for the month and down -9.1% YTD to 328,852. Toyota (-10.6%) improves its market share to 34.6% vs. 33.4% so far this year, while sister brand Daihatsu (-25.5%) is also above its YTD level at 18.4% vs. 17.4% and this despite a drab YoY evolution. Mitsubishi (-31.8%), Suzuki (-32%) and Honda (-56.6%) all implode to round out the Top 5. Instant blockbuster BYD is down one spot on a record April to a still very impressive 6th place with 4.6% share. Chery (+105.9%) breaks all its records at #7 with 1,993 sales and 3.3% share. Retail-wise, Toyota (-16.3%) dominate ahead of Daihatsu (-32.2%) and Mitsubishi (-7.9%). BYD ranks #6 and Chery #7.

Over in the wholesales models charts, the Toyota Kijang Innova (-3.9%) manages a 5th consecutive monthly win with 8.5% of the market. It distances the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+2.3%) scoring the only year-on-year gain in the Top 8. The Toyota Avanza (-33.2%) repeats at #3 while the Daihatsu Sigra (-44%) collapses but still ranks #2 year-to-date. The Toyota Calya (-20.7%) is back up 7 spots on April to #5 but falls faster than the market. It is followed by the Toyota Rush (-0.2%) and Suzuki Carry Pikap (-7.4%) both holding up whereas the Mitsubishi Xpander (-40.7%) tanks. The Daihatsu Terios (+29.5%) delivers the biggest and only additional gain in the Top 10. #9 last month, the BYD Sealion 7 is down four ranks to a still very impressive 13th place.
