Red Sox lineups: Marcelo Mayer batting fifth in series finale
After sitting the last two games with a left-handed starter on the mound, top prospect Marcelo Mayer is back in the Red Sox lineup for Wednesday afternoon’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels.
Mayer, who is 6 for 30 with two doubles though his first eight MLB games, will get the start at third base alongside David Hamilton, who is starting in place of Trevor Story. Kristian Campbell is playing second base and batting ninth and Carlos Narvaez is batting cleanup as the catcher.
Lucas Giolito (1-1, 4.78) will take the mound in hopes of ending Boston’s recent skid. The Red Sox enter Wednesday having lost two straight and eight of their last 10 games. The Angels will counter with right-hander Jose Soriano (4-5, 3.41).
First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
