Jetour holds 3.7% of the Russian market in May.

Another mediocre month for Russian new car sales, with April off -28.3% year-on-year to 91,218 units. This leads to a  year-to-date tally off -26% to 440,259. Lada (-36.2%) falls faster than its home market to 28% share vs. 29.8% so far this year. On the podium, Haval (-24.2%) and Chery (-24.9%) contain their fall somewhat to 11.6% and 10.7% share respectively. Geely (-38.7%) and Changan (-43.5%) both implode but remain #4 and #5. Meanwhile Belarussian-Geely joint venture Belgee (+0.4%) manages a stable score and breaks its share record to 4%. It’s also a share record for Jetour (+8.3%) at 3.7%, just as Solaris is up one spot on April to an all-time high #9 despite not reaching best volumes and share. Solaris sells rebadged Hyundai Motor models after acquiring the former Hyundai plant in St Petersburg in January 2024. Finally Jaecoo (-31.6%) is back inside the Top 10 despite a harsh year-on-year fall.

Model-wise, the Lada Granta (-35.1%) and Vesta (-51.9%) continue to dominate despite steep drops. The Haval Jolion (-27.8%), matching the market, and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (-45.8%), in total perdition, ensure the Top 4 is identical to last month and YTD. The 47 year-old Lada Niva Legend (-29.3%) advances to #5 overall, its best ranking since April 2024 when it ranked #5 also. The Changan UNI-S climbs back into the Top 10 at #6 while the Belgee X50 (-33.2%) reaches an all-time high #7. The Chery Tiggo 4 makes its appearance at #9.
