Ecuador January 2025: Kia Soluto topples Chevrolet D-Max in weak market

The Kia Soluto is the best-selling vehicle in Ecuador in January.

The Ecuadorian new car market drops -11.8% year-on-year in January to 8,240 registrations. This is the weakest January result since 2017. After celebrating 30 years in a row at #1, Chevrolet is hit hard this month with sales down -35.2% to 16.5% share. Kia (+3.6%) in contrast braves the negative environment and comes within just 58 sales of Chevrolet. Hyundai (+14.3%) does even better and advances to #3 as a result, toppling Toyota (-23.9%). Chery (-14.1%) stays at #5 but falls faster than the market. GWM (+34.3%), Hino (+22.5%) and Suzuki (+4.5%) also post market-defying lifts in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, notice BYD (+216.7%) up to #15.

Model-wise, the Kia Soluto topples the Chevrolet D-Max to land in pole position with 6.7% share. The Chevrolet Groove is at 3.5% of the market ahead of the Kia Sonet at 3%. Both models reprise their FY2024 ranking at #3 and #4 respectively. The GWM Poer is up to #5 and the Kia Seltos up to #6.
