Uruguay January 2025: Fiat surges to highest share in 3 years

Fiat holds 21.2% of the Uruguayan market in January.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay edge up 2.8% year-on-year in January to 4,151 units. This is is the largest January volume in at least a decade. Fiat (+14.1%) improves on an already impressive year-ago performance to 21.2% share, its best since March 2022 and compared to 10.4% in December. In contrast Chevrolet (-26.1%) is in difficulty at #2 with 11% of the market vs. 15.9% over the Full Year 2024. Renault (+40.8%), Volkswagen (+9.6%) and Hyundai (+3.4%) all beat the market to round out the Top 5 but the best performance is once again delivered by BYD, up 185.6% to 6.2% share at #6, albeit down on the third place it held in December.
