ALLEN ESKENS: Minnesotan launches “The Quiet Librarian,” a novel about a Minnesota librarian’s search for answers after the murder of her best friend. She knows something evil has come for her, a dark remnant of the past she and her friend had shared. War in Bosnia had led her as a younger woman to join militia fighters. She fled to the United States with a bounty on her head. Now, something is haunting her, and her friend has paid the price. CURTIS SITTENFELD: Former Minnesotan introduces her second story collection, “Show Don’t Tell.” Sittenfeld is the author of such popular books as “American Wife”  and “Rodham.” She lived in Minneapolis when “Romantic Comedy” was published, a novel based loosely on “Saturday Night Live.” Her “Show Don’t Tell” reading is presented by Valley Bookseller of Stillwater. Sujata Massey, a Minnesota native who writes the popular Perveen Mistry series, begins the new season of Club Book with a personal appearance in Plymouth. Other headliners include “Today Show” #ReadWithJenna Book Club favorites Alison Espach and Ann Napolitano, as well as mystery novelists Minnesotan David Housewright and Jesse Q. Sutanto.

Club Book is a program of the Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA). The readings are free and registration is not required. (More information about the authors and their books will be published in the Pioneer Press the Sunday preceding their appearances.)
