Boys Nordic state skiing: Hopkins Logan Drevlow again wins in impressive fashion

Logan Drevlow continues to dominate the boys high school Nordic skiing world.

The Hopkins sophomore won his second straight state title on Thursday at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minnesota, again doing so in dominant fashion.

Drevlow finished the two-race competition with a combined time of 27 minutes, 59.3 seconds — 50 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, Anders Westanmo of Bloomington Kennedy/Jefferson. Drevlow won by 27 seconds as a freshman

Mounds Park Academy senior Eddie Snider placed third, just six-tenths behind Westanmo. Snider actually tallied the best classic race of the day, going one and a half seconds faster than Drevlow.

Snider’s performance helped power Mounds Park Academy to a third-place finish as a team. Wayzata won the team title with 370 points, 11 more than Ely. Stillwater finished in sixth as Ponies junior George Nelson placed ninth overall.

Drevlow is the first boy to win back-to-back pursuit titles since Lakeville North’s Ben Saxton won in 2011 and 2012.
