Area high schools compete in safety
Scott County’s high schools are competing in the first annual Seat Belt Challenge.
The challenge is led by Scott County Public Health and sponsored by the Safe Communities Coalition. The program is designed to increase seat belt use by high school students. This year’s slogan is “Buckle Up… No Excuses.”
The challenge starts with a seat belt check at the beginning of the four-week competition to see how many students are wearing seat belts. During the next four weeks, student-led groups will conduct activities to educate their peers on the danger of not wearing a seat belt.
Each high school in Scott County will be competing in three categories:
The award winners will be announced May 14.
