EDITORIAL: 12 Good Months
It’s been a good year.
While Jordan has lost some good people, it has joined hands to prevail over tragedy, helped neighbors to grieve, and remembered a legacy.
Our city, county, school, chamber of commerce, and other leaders have not always agreed on the issues of the day, but we’ve become stronger through our decision-making processes.
Many of us are struggling just to buy Christmas presents, to pay off debt, or to make ends meet. It’s not a great economy in which we live, but it’s coming around. We will survive.
Our city is resilient. We are lucky to have each other. Together, we’ve done great things this year.
This week, the Jordan Independent publishes the first of a three-part celebration of last year. It’s called “12 months of ’12.”
A month’s worth of 2012 news will be published on jordannews.com on each day of 12 straight days. Reminders of news and feature stories will accompany the best photos of the year, as well.
And in print, beginning this week, we can together rehash the past, chronologically.
We are so busy these days that we can’t remember what we did last week, let alone what happened several months ago. Hopefully, the JI can help you jog your memory.
So spend some time with the paper this week. Take a little look into the past, and see what you can learn from 2012. Set a goal – even a resolution – or two for 2013.
It is said that journalism is the first record of history. Well, Jordan’s history is developing right before your eyes.
You’re a part of it. Make the best of it, and then remember how well we lived.
