Man charged in Chanhassen robbery

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Chanhassen on Dec. 21, according to a Carver County criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a knife entered an apartment on Chan View in Chanhassen at about 11:40 p.m. Dec. 21. The knife was described as having a blade that was 5- to 7-inches in length.

A female was in the apartment at the time. The alleged suspect, identified in the complaint as Alex Craig Rylander, 24, demanded a tattoo kit as well as a laptop computer and a cell phone.

The knife remained sheathed but at one point the suspect swung the knife toward the victim’s head and grazed the back of it.

According to the complaint, Rylander allegedly was at the apartment a week earlier and had shown interest in the tattoo kit.

Rylander was arrested in St. Paul on Dec. 23 and transported to the Carver County Jail. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office list Rylander’s address as Eden Prairie.

He has been charged with three felonies: aggravated robbery – 1st degree; assault – 2nd degree – dangerous weapon; burglary – 1st degree.
