1. FOLKWAYS BY CANDLELIGHT
Celebrate the holiday season with an evening visit to the 1800s Eagle Creek Village. Candlelight will lead the way to homes within the Town Square where costumed residents will share their holiday traditions. There will be a Christmas Pageant in the Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.; live music will be provided by Butternut Squash. Food is available for purchase in the Depot. Park and enter from the West entrance. Dress for the weather and a winter evening stroll. Last entry is at 7:30 p.m.

Cost: Ages 18-64 $5; ages 2-17 and seniors $3; children younger than 2 free

2. HILL HOUSE HOLIDAYS
The bustle and excitement of a Gilded Age Christmas is brought to life as the servants of the James J. Hill House prepare for the holidays. Costumed actors portray people who worked for the Hill family in a dramatized portrayal of servant life and holiday preparations at the Hill family’s Summit Avenue mansion. The one-hour program moves through the elegant first floor spaces and then to the basement servant work areas. The script is based on letters and oral histories of people who worked for the Hill family during the first decade of the 20th century. Reservations recommended.
Time: Tours begin every 30 minutes from 1-3:30 p.m. Dec. 15-16, 22-23
Cost: Adults $12; seniors and students $10; children ages 6-17 $8; $2 discount for Minnesota Historical Society members

3. A NORDIC CHRISTMAS
Five galleries on the first and second floors of the Turnblad Mansion will be decorated for the holidays, representing the traditions of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. This year’s theme is “A Royal Christmas” and each Christmas Room will highlight its country’s royalty or head of state in photos and text.
Time: Noon-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays; Noon-8 p.m. Wednesdays; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays through Jan. 13
Cost: $7 adults, $6 ages 62 and above, $4 ages 6-18 and full-time students with ID, free for children under 6
