Eagan police: Woman falsely reported sex assault at Lebanon Hills Regional Park

Eagan police said a woman will be charged for filing a false police report about a sexual assault at Lebanon Hills Regional Park.

After “an extensive investigation, … we’re able to report the assault never occurred,” police said in a Tuesday statement, adding that the woman told police “her claims were false.”

The woman reported parking at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center and walking the trails nearby about 11 a.m. on Nov. 7 when a male sexually assaulted her, police said previously in notifying the public and encouraging people to not travel alone while using the park system.

“Knowing the impact this had for many over the past several weeks, we would like to thank our community for their increased vigilance, patience, and support while we investigated this matter,” Eagan police said in Tuesday’s statement.

Police said they continue to investigate another woman’s report of a physical assault about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Lebanon Hills. She parked at the Jensen Lake Trailhead lot and walked the trails nearby. She was able to get away from her attacker, police said.

“In an effort to promote public safety, we continue to ask the public to be aware of your surroundings, watch out for each other, and report suspicious people or vehicles,” said Tuesday’s police statement.
