Patriots activating cornerback off injured reserve to fill 53-man roster.

The Patriots activated cornerback Alex Austin off of injured reserve on Monday, the team announced.

Austin replaces veteran cornerback Marco Wilson, who was waived on Monday.

Austin, 23, first joined the Patriots last November. He was placed on injured reserve after Week 3 with an ankle injury and returned to practice late last month.

The 6-foot-1, 191-pound cornerback joins Isaiah Bolden, Marcellas Dial, Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones and Marcus Jones on the Patriots’ cornerback depth chart.

The Patriots struggled to cover Rams wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp in Sunday’s 28-22 loss. Wilson allowed three catches for 58 yards in the game, per PFF.
