Bears at Vikings: What to know ahead of Week 12 matchup
Here are some things to know when the Vikings play host to the Chicago Bears on Monday night:
BEARS at VIKINGS
When: 7:15 p.m. Monday
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium
TV: ABC/ESPN
Radio: KFAN
Line: Vikings – 3.0
Over/Under: 43.5
Keys for the Vikings
— This should be the game that young running back Ty Chandler takes the reins in the backfield. He’s more explosive than fellow running back Alexander Mattison, and thus, provides a different look when he has the ball in his hands. If the Vikings are serious about establishing the run, Chandler should be the guy in charge of doing that.
— Maybe the most important thing for the Vikings is making sure Bears quarterback Justin Fields doesn’t get into a rhythm. He has the ability to make plays with his legs if he escapes the pocket, so it’s on defensive coordinator Brian Flores to put his players in a position to limit that. If the Vikings can make Fields uncomfortable throughout the game, he has been known to turn the ball over at a high rate.
Keys for the Bears
— The most logical way for the Bears to win the game is to win the turnover margin. They need to get after Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs and try to make him give the ball away at some point. It’s possible considering he had a costly fumble and also threw an interception last week.
— There could be an opening for Bears receiver D.J. Moore to make his presence felt. He’s the most dynamic player the Bears have at their disposal, and they must go to him regularly throughout the game. Especially if Moore gets matched up with any of the Vikings’ young cornerbacks.
