Wisconsin High School Football: Friday’s section championship predictions
Division 2
Rice Lake (9-2) at New Richmond (11-0), 7 p.m.
A rematch from the regular season in which the Tigers scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to edge Rice Lake by one.
New Richmond stifled the Warriors’ ground game that night and has been the more impressive of the two teams in the weeks since. Our pick: New Richmond 31, Rice Lake 20
Division 4
Baldwin-Woodville (10-1) at Freedom (11-0), 7 p.m.
Two freight trains set for collision with the winner serving as a legitimate threat to win the state title. Freedom’s Drew Kortz threw for 289 yards and four scores in a win over Prescott last week while Freedom also stymied the Cardinals’ run game.
Baldwin-Woodville’s run game is likely dynamic enough to put up points, but will its secondary hold up? Our pick: Freedom 34, Baldwin-Woodville 31
Division 7
Boyceville (10-1) at Spring Valley (11-0), 7 p.m.
Spring Valley won the first meeting between these two teams, 19-18, last month on a go-ahead touchdown with 79 seconds to play.
Neither offense was overly efficient in that game, and Spring Valley turned the ball over but still found a way to win.
The guess here is something similar occurs Friday. Our pick: Spring Valley 20, Boyceville 14
