Thursday Pickorama
We can only hope the 128 football teams who were fortunate enough to qualify for the state tournament head into the postseason better than we did.
After a solid first eight weeks of landing above the Pickorama version of the Mendoza Line (.500 or better), we landed with a thud last week. In the words of Micheal Ray Richardson, “the ship be sinking”.
Well, our sink sunk. When it was all said and done, we staggered to the finish line to the tune of 4-6, dropping our overall percentage to .700 for the season.
Hopefully, our playoff fortunes turn. Time will tell.
KIPP over Bourne: Jim Rabbitt sure knows how of find offensive talent year in and year out.
LYNNFIELD over Dennis-Yarmouth: If you are a fan of good quarterback play, head over to Lynnfield because you will see it on both sides.
SPRINGFIELD CENTRAL over Natick: Not much of a reward for Natick’s stellar season – an opening round tilt on the road against one of the top three teams in the state.
NASHOBA TECH over Tech Boston: Nashoba Tech has been inching closer each year and this could be the year they kick the proverbial door in.
METHUEN over Franklin: Playing at home could be the difference here.
Milton over DARTMOUTH: Wildcats could very well be a sleeper in Division 3.
NORWELL over North Reading: One of those games that really shouldn’t be a first-rounder as both teams are that good.
Walpole over HINGHAM: I’ve been saying for weeks that the Timberwolves are ready to make a run. Well, starting Friday it’s now or never.
Milton Academy over NOBLE AND GREENOUGH: Axel Portnoy has stepped into some tough shoes at quarterback, but he’s getting the job done.
STONEHAM over Oakmont: Big Bob and the Spartans get to the state quarterfinals.
